I promised every time I shoveled snow this past Winter that I would not complain no matter how hot it got this Summer. Once again, Mother Nature is challenging us with incredible heat waves. So, keeping true to my promise, I am offering a recipe for a cooling and re-hydrating summer drink.

In a 16 ounce bottle, combine the following ~ use glass or stainless steel and not plastic:

  • 1/2 or whole lime
  • 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda (preferably baking soda w/out aluminum in it)
  • 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of Aloe Vera juice

Drink throughout the day. Lime is very alkalizing. Sea salt helps replace water lost and also helps nurture cells, baking soda is a natural neutralizer (Bob’s Red Hill products at Whole Foods, etc., makes baking soda without aluminum), Apple Cider Vinegar helps kill bacteria (get the real ACV by Braggs or another brand – not the Heinz ACV). Aloe Vera juice fights inflammation and is soothing to the intestines.

Enjoy!
